A Valentine's Day Vignette
Part One

I thought I would share pictures of a vignette for Valentine's Day that I am working on. This display will eventually be moved to my daughter's room to join a dress form that is being refeathered.  Until then, I wanted to give you a peek at what I'm working on for her.

A bird's nest with a sequined heart was added to my grandmother's dish and placed in the birdcage. The birdcage was purchased at an antique mall a while back. The bottom was yellow but I painted it pink after a thorough (it was in Yikes! condition) cleaning.

Pretty pink vines and branches were entwined into the cage. A bow out of pink ribbon was tied around the handle of the cage and at the bottom of the branches.

I wanted to incorporate the Valentine I gave to my husband when we were in grade school. You can read about this story here.

Flowers were added to a vintage mini urn for the display.

The ivory runner I used to swirl in and around the birdcage was my great grandmother's. It is hand stitched and cherished.

Have a lovely day!

  9. Melinda, this is precious! I have a couple of vintage birdcages. I did a vignette for Christmas, thought of doing one for Valentines but haven't yet. Yours is so sweet with your family heirlooms. Can't believe your hubby still had that Valentine. I hopped over from Common Ground. Happy to be following you. I have a link party, Share Your Cup Thursday. Would love if your shared!
