I was very honored when Amber at The Honeysuckle Bus Stop passed her Liebster Award along to The Refeathered Roost. Liebster, in German, means endearing, valued, and lovely. The award acknowledges up and coming bloggers for outstanding accomplishments within design that is presented on their blog.

Here are the rules for accepting the award:
1. Each blogger should post 11 random facts about
themselves.
2. Answer the questions the tagger has set for you, and then
create 11 new questions for the chosen bloggers.
3. Choose 11 new bloggers (with less than 200 followers) to pass the award to and link them in your post.
4. Go back to their page and tell them about the award.

5. No tag backs.

Here are the questions that Amber asked about me:

1. How did you get started blogging?
I actually discovered home decor blogging through Pinterest. I have loved home decor magazines and decorating since I was a teenager. I remember one Saturday morning rearranging my mother's bookshelves. When I stepped back to observe the final placement, I realized that I had been in a "zone" while doing this and was not even aware of how much time had passed.

2. How would you describe your style?
I would describe my style as eclectic since I like the mixing of different styles. It suits my personality to marry the styles that "speak" to me. Even if I don't incorporate a particular style, for example, contemporary, I still appreciate it. Case in point: I like visiting blogs with all white rooms. They are beautiful but I'm just a gal who needs color in my home. I still appreciate the tranquility that all white can bring.

3. Which do you prefer...cool colors or warm?
I really prefer the cool colors and use greens and blues in my decorating. I love the calming nature of these colors. I'm hoping to paint our dining room a powder blue in the next few weeks.

4. What is your favorite season of the year and why?
I love Autumn! The beautiful colors and cooling temperatures are something I yearn for throughout the summer. I am originally from the mountains of North Carolina. Many Sunday afternoons were spent traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway to Blowing Rock simply to admire the colors.

5. Are you a dog or a cat person?
I am a dog person. We have two dogs, Cozmo and Mary Grace (Gracie). Both were rescue dogs and are mixed breeds.
Cozmo was named after the Seinfeld character, Cozmo Kramer. I know someone who names her pets after Shakespeare characters. We name ours after popular television characters. I don't even want to think about what that says about us. Gracie got her name from the show, Will and Grace, but shortly became Mary Grace after watching an Andy Griffith Show episode. Mary Grace is Thelma Lou's (Barney's girlfriend) cousin. Andy and Barney decide that Gomer is the best candidate to fix Mary Grace up with for the upcoming dance. When Gomer asks, "Is she pretty?" The response is, "She's nice. She's real real nice...just as nice as she can be." That's our Gracie...she's nice. A lot of people don't find her very pretty. I think she is the cutest... and has a heart of gold. Our two dogs sleep on the bed with us and I make no apologies for this.

6. If you could have lived in any era of time, what would it be?
I think my favorite music era has always been the era of Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, etc. I love the songs of this time. Of course I can enjoy, "Fly Me to the Moon" and "Walking My Baby Back Home" now. I'm not sure how comfortable I would have been being an adult during the time when Nat and Frank were so popular due to some of the injustices that were common. I so much would like to believe that I would have been a participant in demonstrations for civil rights. I will never know since I was born in 1966. Yes, I just told you how old I am...but I didn't tell you that I color my hair so I'm fine with that.

7. What color do you always find yourself drawn to?
Softer shades of blue are my favorite but I can go bold as well to make the blue pop. ( and either champagne blonde or ash blonde by Loreal.)

8. What genre of music do you prefer?
The car radio is on Seriously Sinatra a lot...until my 14 year old gets in the car and then it goes to Top Twenty, which I enjoy as well. It's hard to name a Broadway Musical that I don't like.

9. Favorite food?
Unfortunately, comfort food. Mashed potatoes, biscuits and gravy, fried chicken...I know it's not good for me but I'm southern and sometimes you have to give in to it.

10. Which day of the week is your favorite and why?
Friday... anticipation of sleeping late, being with family and friends...Fridays delight in the possibilities of the next two days.

11. State something about you that is interesting that we don't already know.
Well, if you read my blog you know that I've known my husband since kindergarten. Okay, how about this: I was doing graduate work in counseling, specifically school counseling, when I realized I wasn't going to be a good fit for this. I did well in classes, etc. but it's not much help when a teenager tells you his or her problems and you sit there and cry with him or her. I wear my heart on my sleeve and that can be a roadblock for professionalism in the field of counseling. I have to say the Psychology degree wasn't wasted even though I never practiced. I have two daughters who went through middle school....need I say more?

I hope you will visit and check out the blogs I have chosen to pass The Liebster Award to...and here they are:

The Tattered Treasures

Congratulations to you all! It was not easy for me to narrow down the blogs I love. I follow all of these blogs because I find inspiration in them every time I visit.  I hope you will visit them as well. They may be newbies but they have fantastic style and creations. Please email me if you have any questions: cmzog1@roadrunner.com

Now for the questions I have for you:

1.  What is your favorite room in your home?

2.  If you could live in any home that is in a television program, movie or book, which house would you choose.

3.  What is the item that you dream of bringing home but it's just too dad-gum expensive?

4.  Are you a morning person or a night owl?

5.  What is your favorite holiday?

6.  Do you think I look fat in this?  And if you do, why in the world wouldn't you just lie to me? JUST KIDDING!

6. One piece or two piece bathing suit? I'm not kidding.

7.  What is the next project you are considering for your home?

8.  Are you an extrovert or an introvert? (Sorry...I had to put one question in here concerning personality types.)

9.  What feeling do you hope your home evokes when visitors enter?

10.  Where is the most interesting place you have ever visited?

11.  What is the greatest joy you find in blogging?

I want to thank Amber for even considering me for this award. It is especially meaningful to me because I love her style and blog.

Have a wonderful Sunday!
Oh, and way off topic, I gave up complaining for Lent.
If you are a member of my family, you're welcome and stop laughing.
